Plenty of questions coming up on the wall so I thought I'd recap all the main things to know for the day!

Is the Circle Line open???

HELL YES. It's open for the first time in years and the staff are ready for us!

Starting time? Starting locations?

If you're starting at 10am then head either to the Pride of Paddington or Shepherds Bush Walkabout.

If you want to meet at Notting Hill Gate then I recommend any time after 10:30-11am. By then we'd be coming in from Paddington and Bayswater... The Swan in Notting Hill is a popular drinking hole for the pub crawl, if you get in!

Any rules? Instructions from the police?

Don't be dicks. Don't carry glass about and listen to anything the cops say on the day. A full run down of what the police has told me can be found here.

HAKA??????

4PM at Old Palace Yard, you'll still get Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament behind you. It's a nice space, the same as last year. The police will point you in the right direction. I have published a map at the bottom of this post for you!

Any food or drink deals on the day?

The NZ Gourmet Pie Company will be racing about in their pie van all day. They will be at Notting Hill Gate from 10:30am. They will also be at Vesbar after the pub crawl.

Homelanz, the Kiwi/Aussie music festival are going to race around in 2 Spaceships vans with Kiwi food like Rashuns, Twisties etc for sale and cold refreshments... They will also be spotting people along the crawl and take photos... if you end up on their Facebook page you will win a FREE TICKET to this years Homelanz festival. (worth £35)!

The Spaceships vans will also have deals for you on the crawl, grab one of their cards from the guys in the vans and you will get 5% off vehicles, or get 1 day free hire of their vehicles for those wicked road trips.

**Where can I get my weekend started early???**

I have arranged for three pre parties for you! 2 in Shepherds Bush and 1 in Temple. All are smaller but wicked places to kick off and will all have something different so you can choose where you want to start your Waitangi weekend!

Hell Pizza in Shepherds Bush are having £2.50 Macs and Steinys and £7 all you can eat Pizza from 6-9. They will have Kiwi tunes pumping out all night as well. The gang at Hell are awesome and will ensure you'll have a crazy night!All details here!

Vesbar in Shepherds Bush are having Kiwifruit Mojitos, LIVE tunes from Jayson Norris and if you're in quick you may be able to buy a limited edition T shirt from Barry who will be selling T shirts there on the night! Jayson is very popular with Kiwis here in London and you'll definitely be starting your Waitangi weekend in style! Details here.

Last but not least is the Witness Box pre party! This pub isn't as well known as the other two but is run by the same guys who ran the Speights Bar when it floated to London a few years back. They were also behind the mental Waitangi Boat Party last year... awesome! This year they are pulling out the stops with 6 Steiny Pure for £15, 6 Speights cans for £15 and 3 pint jugs of Macs for £10! They will also have live music from Renee (ex Tadpole) and Angus from Buffalo Twins (another Kiwi band). Renees vocals hit #1 in NZ when Tadpole was massive, so you know it will be a big night!

Ok, what about the after parties????

Of course there are going to be some HARDCORE after parties.
Kicking off at Temple Walkie, they are also relaunching their entire bar so have things like stil walkers and fire breathers not to mention great drink deals all night long. For all info, incl the live music, click here!

Shepherds Bush Walkie have also got a massive night planned. This is also very popular for after parties so they are ready to make sure you party hard with £2.50 jagerbombs, £5 doubke vodka Red Bull and 20% off all drinks with your Boomerang Card (pick one up at the bar). Vesbar in Shepherds Bush is also a close distance to Shebu Walkie. They will have live music in the evening, great drinks and of course the NZ Gourmet Pie Company will be in selling Steak and Cheese PIES...

***Update**

A further after party will be held at the Redback!
Opening as usual at around 6 pm on Sat 4th Feb, they'll have Kiwi singer/guitarist SAM playing some tunes from around 7pm, DJ on duty after that with some more Kiwi music, then rockin' 3 piece HEAD at 11pm. Open as usual til 2am, and it's free entry until 9pm. Bring it on!

As well as the massive events at the Walkabouts, we will have more after parties for you to get into.

I know sometimes there are massive lines to get into both Walkabouts, so I have organised for some after parties to be located very close to each Walkabout.

First, the Witness Box! They are about 5 min walking distance from Temple Walkabout, click here for directions.
Yep, they will be having MASSIVE DEALS! These are the guys who organised last years EPIC after party boat party and were behind the Speights Bar in London. They are offering:

AFTER PARTIES (get them while they're HOT

There will be TWO massive after parties after Pub Crawl as well as some smaller ones which I'll advertise later - however, traditionally, literally thousands of you head to the famous Walkabouts for drinks, music and dodgy shenanigans!

They will be at the Shepherds Bush and the Temple Walkabouts and they will be EPIC!

Temple will be having their relaunch party that night as well so will have stilt walkers, fire breathers and angle grinders... and if you didn't know, their relaunch has meant the bar now looks completely different with their NEW beach bar.
They will have DJs in both the new Walkabout (Wedgie) and their Beach Bar (Krystal Roxx) and from 10pm the band Brainscape will be pumping out the tunes.

Shepherds Bush is also set for a wicked Waitangi weekend. Don't forget they will have Grinspoon playing live (invite yourself here) on the Thursday and then the big daddy of them all, they will have some AWESOME drink deals post pub crawl including: £2.50 jagerbombs, £5 doubke vodka Red Bull and 20% off all drinks with your Boomerang Card (pick one up at the bar). They will also have live music all night too.

I have spoken to both managers of the Walkabouts and they are expecting utter and complete mayhem... which is good, as I have promised it!

Pre Party... number THREE - Witness Box

When I thought about the pre parties, I was looking for three smaller but damn friendly bars that could hold a decent party, have wicked deals and have tunes and a good vibe about them.

The Witness Box is a wicked little bar about 5 mins walk from Temple Tube Station.
It is run by the same people who looked after the famous Speights Bar the Southerner when it had it's too brief stay in London. The staff are good value and the atmosphere on a Friday night is never disappointing!

This Friday night Feb 3rd, they will be hosting a pre pub crawl party and it's going to be a good one!

Live Kiwi tunes - artist Renee (ex Tadpole) and Angus (Buffalo Twins)

The easy directions are to turn right out of Temple station and then turn left (the opposite way from the Walkabout) and walk down along the Thames for 5 mins - turn left down Temple avenue and at the end of that street (1 min) look left, you'll see a pub on a corner beside a road barrier. That is the Witness Box. Head downstairs....

Homelanz at Waitangi Day Pub Crawl!

Last year was the début of HOMELANZ a wicked day out for Kiwis and our Aussie cuzzies to have a few drinks, eat some good food and listen to choice tunes. There were some awesome bands there in '11 capped off with a mean performance from Katchafire at the end.

This years event is shaping up to be awesome too, and you can win tickets just by being at the pub crawl! They will be spotting people and if your photo ends up on their Facebook page you'll get a free ticket!
I will also be announcing the headline act for Homelanz after pub crawl and will have an offer of discounted tickets for us all, so hang tight!

The Homelanz gang are going to be racing about in Spaceship campers which will be fully stocked with Kiwi goodies such as Burger Rings, Twisties and Chips and will be selling Jandals for £5 and loads more. Sweet!

My meeting with the NZ High Commissioner

On Monday I went to the NZ High Commission, situated in none other than NZ House to meet Derek Leask - our High Commissioner to London for a cup of coffee and a chat to fill him in on what we're doing this year.

It was a good meeting as I got to hear about the good work our high commission gets up to while here in London, especially in regards to immigration. I know most of you understand that the rule changes for us coming to the UK have been sometimes frustrating - however Derek and Josh, one of his staff - have been working hard on this to make life easier for us!

I asked for some words of wisdom from them to share with you all and they responded with: "The New Zealand High Commission in London supports a responsible, safe and respectful celebration by the New Zealand community in London to honour the occasion."

I have liaised with the police as well to ensure we do act responsibly on the day and I reckon as long as we look after each other and don't be dicks, we'll ensure the day will be a good one!

Have another look at my post on meeting the police if you'd like to remember a few rules that the police want us to follow to ensure there are zero arrests and as few injuries and troubles as possible on the day! Cheers.

Pre Party Number TWO!

I am really stoked to announce that our SECOND pre party has been announced and it will be at Vesbar in Shepherds Bush!

Vesbar, just 1 minute walk from the Walkabout is a great venue that hosts live music and has awesome cocktails every week. They will be offering live Kiwi tunes from well known Kiwi performer, Jayson Norris and will be selling Kiwi Mojitos for £5.50!

Jayson Norris has been a staple of the London music scene for some time and has a massive fan base, chilling out with his tunes and some great drinks will be a sweet way to kick off your Waitangi weekend!

Vesbars PRE Waitangi Day Party will kick off Friday February 3rd at 8pm, but pop in any time when you are ready to kick off the celebrations. If you don’t know where it is click here for directions. (click on MAP)

Pie Pies Pies for Waitangi Day!

We all love our Kiwi pies don't we? I have been in the UK for just over 8 years and still have cravings for a proper Kiwi pie. I especially miss Steak and Cheese pies... usually the first bit of food I grab when I land in NZ!

The Gourmet Kiwi Pie Company arrived in the UK around 2010/11 and have a crazy awesome range of pies, from Minted Lamb and Chilli Beef to Steak and Cheese.

It is my pleasure to announce that they are coming to their first ever Waitangi Day Pub Crawl this year and will be selling their simply awsome Steak and Cheese pies along the route of the pub crawl!

Watch out for them by Notting Hill Gate station and also also the embankment after the haka... keep your eyes out for them as they may appear anywhere they can park the truck!

Monday at the Elk Bar Fulham from 6 for the Waitangi Day cocktail party as the official caterers, with a load more Hot Pies!

Hell Pizza in Shepherds Bush have cooked up a cracking couple deals for the Waitangi weekend in 2012. Both their Shebu and Clapham branches will be continuing their legendary hangover special for the day after (free snack pizza with every delivery over £10) and the Shepherds Bush branch will also be hosting one of our new Pre Waitangi Pub Crawl parties!

As I have mentioned on the Facebook page I have organised three Friday night parties in different London locations. Each bar will have something different and will be in smaller venues so that you can all get together and have a few drinks and socialise the night before the big pub crawl!

Supporters of 2012 Pub Crawl - Spaceships

Every Waitangi Day I speak to Kiwi companies (and Kiwi friendly companies) to include as many of them as possible to be a part of our awesome day. I reckon it's great that we have so many Kiwi companies in London and they always appreciate our support.

I have been talking to Mick from Spaceship Rentals. They're the Kiwi company that have some primo vehicles that are wildly popular back home and here in the UK. Their ‘Spaceships Campervans’ offer budget rates for hire of their vans from £20 per day.

They are dead keen to support the pub crawl on the day and will be offering discounts on their campervans and vehicles for those road trips through UK or Europe.

Keep your eyes out for their vans on the day, there will be a couple of them zooming about! They will have a few beers on board too and if you grab off them a card saying "Free Day in Space" you'll be able to get 5% off vehicles, or get 1 day free hire of their vehicles - ideal for grabbing a few friends and hitting the road.

Meeting the Police! (updated)

Note, this is now updated as I have had more information come in from the police.
A Waitangi tradition is having a bit of a laugh with the police during the route of the pub crawl. After meeting with Westminster police yesterday, this year will be no exception!

It was quite a surreal experience. Many believe the police are quite a stern bunch but my visit yesterday was completely the opposite as we shared Waitangi memories and jokes.
They have let me know that our presence is an event the police look forward to, not just observing, but also participating in. Many police are also trying to learn the haka in time for the event!

I spoke to Donna and Bruce, who were 100% supportive of the day and just want us to be reminded about what will make the day easier for us and them. They have already done all the planning regarding blocking off the area for the haka and have police allocated (many who jumped at being involved) for the day.

As many of you know, Parliament square (thanks to the Occupy squatters) have made it impossible for us to have the haka in the traditional spot on Parliament Square. However, as like last year, we have been moved ever so slightly across to Old Palace Yard, and police will point us in that direction on Saturday, so that’s no problem. We’ll still have Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament as our backdrop!

Just a few things to keep in mind:

Look after yourselves and your mates.

Try and have a decent breakfast and eat along the way.

Running in front of traffic or straying too far off crossings isn’t such a great idea.

Look out for your belongings and throw your trash out in bins. (Police will ask Westminster to provide more bins for the event) Please don't chuck litter/cans on the ground, be a Tidy Kiwi and hold on until you see a bin.

There is STILL a drinking ban around Westminster, so Police will probably ask for you to empty your vessel! (compulsory consume!!!)

Drinking on the street and underground will be challenged by police, please try and keep it to the pubs.

There is also a tube drinking ban, as this is the first year we’ve been allowed on the Circle Line since the liquor ban on the tube started, it will be interesting how they’ll enforce it. However if you do bend the laws, don’t be dicks.

Glasses/glass bottles or any other unsuitable drink container will be seized by police (don’t want anyone to get hurt or any punctures from broken glass etc)

If the police direct you, please try and follow their directions.

The Police have suggested that due to overcrowding in the Westminster area especially during when the haka is about to kick off (4pm) that we can all use different tube stations to get to the meeting point.., they suggest Victoria, Westminster, Embankment and Temple.

That’s pretty much it. I have to admit the police were extremely enthusiastic about the event and want it to run for many many more years without any problems for us or them. It’s a sign that we have been bloody brilliant in previous years for them to still be this good natured about it considering all the trouble that the police have had in London over the last 12 months.

Don’t forget while we’re out there enjoying the crawl that the police have been working extremely hard recently and we should take a moment to thank them for being legends during the riots and being hugely supportive of our annual event. We couldn’t have honestly have asked for a better bunch of officers working with us on the day, so we know it will be a wicked day out!

Hi again, there is always loads of news to update you with as we count down to Feb 4th. Many of you are first timers - and so it's important that you all know what goes down on the day!

Firstly, get your NZ flags here, if you feel like parading around in a massive flag.
Very cheap, £3.99 for a 5 by 3 foot flag is a bargain.

I have spoken to Westminster Police and they are very happy for us to do the Haka, however as with last year it will be moved slightly away from Parliament square to Old Palace Yard. I'll put a map up here or on our Facebook page.

The route is as follows:
(I've deliberately not added pubs here as there is NO way we'll all fit in one bar)
10am ;Paddington - kicking off at the Pride of Paddington
Bayswater
Notting hill Gate
High Street Kensington
Gloucester Rd
South Kensington
Sloane Square
Victoria
St James Park
Westminster
Embankment
Temple - Temple Walkabout (after parties will be held at both Temple and Shepherds Bush Walkabouts) More info on the bands later on!

Alternatively you can start at Hammersmith or Shepherds Bush and head to Notting Hill Gate from there. The Walkabout in Shebu will be open for you thirsty animals!

Are there any rules?

Apart from not getting arrested there are a few gentle rules that have been passed on through the years...

Don’t sit down on the tube, no holding on to anything on the tube apart from your mates and don’t upset the locals. Fancy dress is optional and encouraged!

Of course the police will be enforcing liquor laws and try not to be a dickhead. The police love us and don't mind a little tomfoolery, but lets not push our luck too much :)

Tube?

For the last 3 or so years we have had to walk the route as TFL have shut it down for "engineering works"... this year for a strange reason (so far!) they have kept it open. This will mean it's the first year we have been allowed to do the pub crawl during the liquor ban on the underground. In other years while this ban has been on, it hasn't been a problem as we've been outside. So this year try and stick to the rules if we are to be allowed to use the Circle Line again.

As there will be literally thousands of us, like other years, TFL end up closing many stations due to overcrowding. I know I'll probably end up walking a fair bit of it anyway. However, look after each other on the tubes and mind the gap!(and don't forget the no sitting or and holding rules)

Is anybody invited??

Yep. You're all invited (even Aussies!) The pub crawl is very friendly and we'll let you all join in. Be prepared to see all sorts of crazy costumes on the day too.

Haka??

Always a difficult one to pick. Try and get to Westminster around 3:30pm or so if you are really keen to be in the haka or to see it. As there are protesters in Parliament Sq, we have had to move ours along a little. The space is long and you can fit a hell of a lot of people there. Last year it was jammed. I am hoping that this year we'll have more ideas on what will happen regarding the haka but to be 100% honest, this is an annual problem as it just spontaneously happens!

Am working on these now. There will be after parties at the Walkabouts in Temple and Shepherds Bush. They will be messy and epic. They will have live music and deals to keep you going all through the night. I will let you know details as they are released.

2012 Update

It seems quite a lot of you visit this site too so thank you for reading!

Just over a month to go and things are moving quickly. I have spoken to Westminster Police and have done the paperwork - they have told me that Parliament Square remains closed due to protests and those occupy people - so they will allow us to have the haka again in the same place as last year, which is a big relief! Considering the police and council are wary of massive groups of people coming into this area at the moment, I reckon we're pretty lucky. Thankfully the police are very cool about it and are not worried at all. More proof of our good reputation!

More details on the haka location will appear on our Facebook page.

Speaking of the page, we have so many new followers already this year and have over 3600 people following the news and updates. I have also set up the pub crawl "event" page and that has over 950 people in just over 2 weeks... NICE! You see see that page here! It is looking like it will be a massive event however way you look at it!

I am currently speaking to pubs and businesses that are Kiwi owned or Kiwi friendly to see if we can get some great deals lined up for you all over the day and over the weekend. Pretty sure we'll have some news on this very soon.

Hey all - been a while since I updated the page! I can't believe it's been that long since we had that EPIC 2011 pub crawl!

Since then you know New Zealand has had a bloody miserable start to the year with the Chch Earthquake and thankfully a great end with the Rugby World Cup coming home!

Over on my Waitangi Day Facebook page we helped facilitate many of the fundraising efforts from organisations, bars and individuals who raised a shedload of cash for the people back home. We have now almost 3500 Kiwis on this page (fantastic!) and we are always looking at ways to use this page to get support for Kiwi events, Kiwi companies and anybody that can make our lives easier and save us money.

It hasn't all been doom and gloom though. Kiwis in London always find a way to put positives onto negative situations and as the winter quickly approaches I'm sure we'll all be thinking of ways to enjoy the cold months here.

The Waitangi Day Pub Crawl for 2012 will be on Saturday February 5th at 10am!

Of course we can't wait! In the meantime we will be working on getting more oubs signed up to give us deals, have a friendly chat to the police and also see if we can tighten up that Haka... well we can do our best!

I can let you in on a couple things that will be going down this year.

First, there will be some wicked after parties happening post pub crawl. The Temple and Shepherds Bush Walkabouts are going to have some very big events planned and there is going to be another after party somewhere else... I can't say anything just yet, but you will not want to miss out. More news will come out on the Facebook page over the weekend.

We're getting 16,000+ hits a day on the Facebook group, more people than ever are getting excited and so am I. This year we are also going to "Tweet" the event live on Twitter. If you want to get involved with this project we will be using the hashtag #WDPC. More details on the Facebook group.

This is the date for 2010 and it's lining up to be a HUGE one. Our Facebook group has hit 500 members in just over two weeks and we have been talking to a few of the Kiwi bars to see what they have on offer for Waitangi Day and the rest of the weekend!

We are updating our Facebook Page every day but we will continue to update this page with big news up until the big day.

Just as 2009 draws to a close the fun is already about to begin again as 2010 is on Saturday February 6th - coincidentally the exact day Kiwis back home will be celebrating it.

TFL have planned engineering works AGAIN and the Circle Line will be not running at all - but if this changes we'll let you know. View the planned closures here. (PDF file)
While this is annoying, veterens know with the huge amount of Kiwis (and locals) on the underground during this day, we usually end up walking most of the route to Westminster anyway. So no big drama there! The important thing is that we let everybody know that it is STILL on!

One way is to join our Facebook Page to be kept up with all the news and to interact with other pub crawlers.

Yes it may be early to start planning for this (despite my costume already being sorted) but this is an excellent day in the annual social calendar and organisation is what keeps this event going every year successfully without confusion... well except for the annual confusion about the Haka but that is well out of my hands!

2009 was a cracker wasn't it? A brilliant day and plenty of fun was had by all.

TVNZ shot some excellent footage on the day which you can view here (until they take it down)

Plenty of people on the Facebook page have uploaded their pics as well.

Many people have commented on how well behaved we were and the police I spoke to and feedback from others who spoke to the police, is that it was a very good natured day.

The Final Word...for this Saturday (updated)

I will be adding updates to this as they come to hand so keep reading the updates at the bottom of this post...

It has been very exciting in the build up for this weekends Pub Crawl and a lot of interest from readers here and on Facebook about what will happen. I can say that with the Circle Line being down it will make it one of the most interesting yet!

The Met police WILL be policing the event a lot more this time and will be making sure that everybody is behaving. They designed the new drinking laws on the tubes and in the city to keep the streets "safer" and the police will not hesitate to arrest anybody who is seen to be causing trouble.

The rumours ARE true. If we cause a lot of trouble this year - the Met police will be recommending that this is the last pub crawl that they will allow on London streets. While this is impossible to control, having the police and London Underground onside will mean we can keep this event going for us and the Kiwis who have yet to come to London. Last year we caused £5000.00 damage in Westminster, mainly being rubbish being left behind. While this is a problem, it is one easily controlled.

Enjoy the pub crawl, lets have a wicked day out. There are plenty of Waitangi Day events to go to over Friday and Saturday (and for the hardcore, get your tickets for the Church on Sunday) so don't blow it all while walking to Westminster!

42BELOW have spoken to Gate Bar (down the stairs) and restaurant at 87 Notting Hill Gate - right outside the tube station (next to Gate Cinema, opp. WH Smith) and are serving drinks from about 11am till 1pm.

They will most likely be serving 42BELOW Manuka Honey [vodka] Espresso or Falling Water [legendary Feijoa vodka cocktail from Matterhorn, Wellington] with a free feijoa. FREE feijoas for the first 100 people.

£3 for a cocktail or £5 for two.

Wicked.

UPDATE 4

Just been interviewed by the Press Association about the pub crawl. This will be circulated around all the papers. One angle they are asking a lot about is the crowd trouble and possible damage. Obviously it is hard to police for everybody but for the sale of the event please make sure you keep an eye out for any trouble so that it doesn't get out of hand.

Oh and add to that TVNZ have just got in touch.... it will be kicking off in Paddington at 10:30am. Lets make it a day to remember!

This Saturday....get ready to rumble!

In previous years the event has kicked of around 11am, this year - in order to walk around the circuit and get into as many pubs as you can... it will start anytime from 10am to 11am.

If you plan to start at Paddington the usual starting point is the Pride of Paddington - turn left out of the DISTRICT/CIRCLE line and walk 50 or so metres... or follow the crowds massing around the area.

As for specials during the day, if you go to the Speights Bar The Southerner at Temple on the Saturday (and the Friday!) Directions here!

Thanks for visiting the site. If you're new to the pub crawl, or even a seasoned pro. You got to know the loose arrangement of pubs that sort of participate in the pub crawl. These are the pubs that have been visited for years and expect a busy day on Feb 7th.

WAITANGI DAY PUB CRAWL 2009 (Updated Jan 19th)

It's all set and ready to rumble for 2009 and it WILL be on Saturday 7 February from 11am-6pm

We had originally planned to make this an attempt for the worlds record but this was unfortunately unable to take place... this time!

The Circle Line is down for the Waitangi weekend so we will have to make good use of walking and other methods to get from Paddington to Westminster.

With the new liquor laws we must ensure that we don't piss off the police more than usual :-)

If you're on Facebook there are many Waitangi Day events being organised, and make sure you tell all your friends that the event is most certainly ON for Waitangi weekend.

Thirsty Kiwis! (and your equally beer crazy friends)

The Waitangi Day pub crawl is going to need some tweaking if we are to take advantage of the new liquor rules that have been introduced in London, namely the no booze on the tube and harsher penalities for those drunk on the tube and public areas.

We will be looking into these developments and will be putting our thinking caps on to help organise a bigger and better run pub crawl for 09!

The general consensus is that with the overcrowding of the underground as well as pubs, we need to think smart about how to get around on the day and so we don't get ourselves banned - but to also ensure we have a GREAT day.

Waitangi Day Pub Crawl 2008 on Radio NZ National

This Saturday is the BIG DAY! Make sure you get along to the Pride of Paddington before 10am and stock up on beer beforehand. There are plenty of Off Licenses in the area as well.

To get there turn left out of Paddington (Circle Line) stop and walk 50 yards and look for the big red pub on the corner.

The date has just been announced and it will be on FEBRUARY 9th!

Don't listen to anybody else if they say it's on the 2nd or even on the 6th. The Waitangi Day Pub Crawl is always (unless the tubes are down) on the Saturday CLOSEST to the 6th.

If you go on the 2nd you will be very very lonely and the CIRCLE LINE is closed on Saturday the 2nd so you'll be walking it :)

As per usual it starts at Paddington and goes anti-clockwise to Westminster.

World Record Pub Crawl

Well we completed this mad day of action and my body/liver is fully intact, mostly thanks to the unnatural sight of me drinking responsibly all day! :)

Was a well organised event, run by The Tour Man - the master of organisation!

I was one of the captains and we had a very successful day, and met hundreds of really cool people. We won't know from Guiness if we beat the record for a few months, but fingers crossed as it was a very close call on the day. Earlier on we had notification that the record was now almost 2300, and we had 2700+ registered (but not all turned up or completed their cards on the day) so it will be a nervous wait!

Goodtimes though, one of the highlights of my time in London by far!

What a day! In fact what mad 2 days over this past weekend!

Waitangi Day was awesome, I hope those of you who attended and helped grind London tube stations to a close had a great day out. And for those who joined me for the endurance busting day at the Church and the Walkie in Shepherds Bush - you deserve a medal!

Obviously I was a little too drunk last year and assumed that the pub crawl started at 10am. This weeks TNT magazine has the crawl starting at officially 11am... however, most pubs are open about 10 or so, and I will be at the Pride of Paddington at 10am anyway. I expect to have a pint of two there and at 10:30 or so whoever is ready to move on can start from then!

I have also been passed this handy guide to which tube stations are named after, provincially to NZ towns and cities. On the day we will have to make a rule to get people drinking when they get to their home town. Unfortunately for most of us, we won't get to them - so other rules might apply :)

The day is coming for our first social gathering for 2006! The Circle line pub crawl is for many the highlight of the year and for many reasons it is!

The big day is Saturday the 4th of February starting at 10am and meeting at a pub beside Paddington - the Pride of Paddington (Spring street w2)

As for future events for the social club. In late February or early March we are looking at a night out at a Austrian restaurant. Now this place is classy and a lot of fun. I won't spoil too much of the details, but they serve excellent beers in Steins (and smaller vessels), the food is huge and incredibly tasty and the all night entertainment is a lot of fun.
